Functions of the Nervous System:
- Sensory Function: The nervous system receives information from sensory organs such as the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin. It allows us to perceive and interpret various stimuli from our surroundings.
- Integrative Function: The nervous system processes and integrates the received sensory information, allowing us to make decisions, solve problems, and form memories. This function involves the brain, spinal cord, and a network of interconnecting nerves.
- Motor Function: The nervous system sends signals to muscles and glands, enabling voluntary and involuntary movements. It controls muscle contractions, bodily functions, and hormone release.
Components of the Nervous System:
The nervous system is divided into two main components: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
Central Nervous System (CNS):
